[Review] LuLuLun - Precious White Face Mask + First Impression

Today I'll be sharing with you my first experience using LuLuLun's face mask.

To be honest with you, I'm very new to J-beauty. Nevertheless, I'm open to try new things!

Founded in 2011, LuLuLun is Japan's household name and it is one of the best-selling sheet mask brands.

As far as I understand, LuLuLun has two major sheet mask range: Standard and Precious series, where Precious sheet masks are cater more to mature skin.

Thanks to my little sister - I got the chance to try out this sheet mask where she bought it during her recent trip to Osaka, Japan.

What product is this?

LuLuLun's Face Mask in Precious White is a sheet mask with brightening and uplifting anti-aging skin properties.

It contains 7 individual sheet masks inside the re-sealable pack, that are meant for 1-week course in order to see the maximum results.

Suitable for all skin types, designed for user age range 18 to 50. The Precious series is said to be 120% thicker than their Standard series. (never have I tried their Standard series, so I can't verdict on this point.. have you tried it? Lemme know in the comment box!)

What are the key ingredients and their functions?

A powerful selection of four vitamin components – Vitamin C, E, B3 and B5 – work in synergy to provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, helping to alleviate signs of premature aging caused by free radical damage.

Enriched with extracts of Avocado and Roobos, the formulation effectively combats melanin production and enhances ceramide regeneration, minimizing the appearance of freckles and discoloration while boosting the lipid barrier to smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

I have ran an ingredient list analysis on skincharisma and found out that this product is sulfate-free, alcohol-free, silicone-free and EU allergen-free. On top of that, this sheet mask is also free from artificial colours and mineral oils.

Nevertheless, it is not paraben-free and fungal acne safe; not all the ingredients passed the EWG green-level, meaning to say it may cause irritation for some people.

Packaging

Particularly the one I got here is a 7-day sheet mask course, which it contains 7 individual sheet mask inside this re-sealable packet.

Although it is said to be "White", the entire packaging is in striking gold (heh).

Product description, ingredients and how-to use... literally everything is written in Japanese, and I have no idea (heh). Luckily Mr. Google is here to help.

Texture and Scent

The sheet mask itself felt very fibery and not so-stretchable.

I realised the size of the sheet mask is relatively smaller (or, face fitting) compared to most of the sheet mask I've tried before. Yes, smaller even compared to Korean sheet masks.


In terms of the thickness of the sheet mask, I think it's just in between - not too thick nor too thin.

The essence itself has this alcohol-like scent (reminds me of sake), which is weird to me as this product does not contain alcohol.. :/

Application

Wash your face and apply toner. Remove mask from packet and gently unfold. Place mask onto the face and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. Then remove and pat in the remaining essence for better skin absorption. Proceed with the rest of your PM skincare routine.

Here's how I usually incorporate sheet mask into my night routine.

PM routine:

Makeup remover > Cleanser > Serum > Sheet Mask here > Eye Cream

Personal Experience

This is my first time using sheet mask from LuLuLun and I'm quite surprised how thin its essence whilst it is said specifically designed for mature skin.

Since I'm only using this sheet mask for once, it would be unfair for me to comment on its brightening and uplifting anti-aging properties.

Nevertheless, after sheet masking for 10 minutes, actually I don't feel much difference in terms of skin hydration. The sheet mask itself dries up rather fast and my skin is not being moisturised enough, to which I'm little disappointed.

I love the concept of 1-week daily sheet masking course and the idea of reducing plastic packaging - it's environmental friendly and why not!

On the other hand, it would be great if the sheet mask is fragrance-free.
