#36 My First Ever Japan Beauty Haul 2019
If you have been reading my blog, you can tell I am indeed a big fan of K-beauty. It's all about K-beauty so far. When my little sister got the chance to do her on-job-training in Osaka, Japan, I just couldn't let go of this "golden opportunity" to grab some J-beauty items (didn't I already mentioned that I'm a shopaholic?)
Before my little sister left for Japan, I made a shopping list for her. So she became my personal shopper before she even realised it (heh).
FYI I can't read Japanese (at all!) even though I chose a Japanese nickname for myself (T.T) I know every little about J-beauty. Another disclaimer. I have never been to Japan myself. The items on the shopping list are the recommendations from beauty Youtubers and Bloggers which I jotted down along the way. Yes, what I do usually is snapshot the items recommended by others (the ones which got me interested) so that I can refer back when on shopping.
The products were bought from four different shops, namely Daiso, MUJI and 2 local drugstores (which I don't know how to pronounce their names..><).
Are you interested to know what I've bought from this recent haul? 95% of products from this haul are my first purchase, which means I never use them before.
What you can expect from this post:
- List of haul;
- Product functions;
- Where to get from; and
- Product price.
Let's start with the biggest purchase from Matsumoto Kiyomi, a local drugstore.
FYI a sales tax of 8% is charged on every sales transaction. Usually the price tag shown is before tax, so you have to do the calculation beforehand.
For foreigners, you can get tax refund right on the spot (upon checking out) once you purchase ¥5,000 and above in a single receipt. You have to mention to the cashier upon checking out. They will pack your purchase items in a sealed bag to indicate it's a duty-free purchase. DO NOT open the sealed bag until you depart from Japan.
Say if you already planning to buy a bunch of beauty stuffs, try to make it in one purchase. It's not worth it if you purchase one item each time.
① Utena's Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Mask 3-pc (Blue - Collagen) (¥545 / approx. RM22)
② Utena's Premium Puresa Golden Jelly Mask 3-pc (Red - Hyaluronic Acid) (¥545 / approx. RM22)
This sheet mask has been in my wishlist for a very long time. I was hesitating to purchase it from Hermo or Sasa because of its price. Thanks to my little sister, now I can get it at a much cheaper price! Now 1-pc in average is about RM7+. Can't wait to try it!
③ MSH's Love Liner Liquid Waterproof Eyeliner #Dark Brown (¥1,600 / approx. RM65)
I was torn between MSH and Flowfushi when deciding which liquid eyeliner to buy. Then I was told that Flowfushi ran out of stock at that drugstore, so it turned out to be quite an easy decision at the end.
This eyeliner was highly recommended by one of the local beauty bloggers I knew on Instagram. I am going to give it a go and see if it's worth the rave. The truth is, this is my first time purchasing a liquid eyeliner above RM30!!! >.< You better work it girl..

④ Opera's My Lash Advanced (¥951 / approx. RM39)
Another choice between Opera and Ettusais. But somehow my sister missed out Ettusais... IDK (heh). I should thank her for helping me to make that hard decision. :)
This product has raised in popularity in 2018 and became the 1st place in @cosme mascara category. It has slim mascara brush. I have high expectation on this product, because my eyelashes are quite sparse. Hopefully this mascara will do the trick.

⑤ Kose Cosmeport Softymo's Speedy Cleansing Oil 230ml (¥462 / approx. RM19)
Another product recommended by the same beauty blogger I mentioned earlier. Speedy cleansing power without leaving the skin feeling greasy. This cleansing oil has been mentioning in her Instagram stories for numerous times, and it got me really interested of getting it myself.
Just recently Kose Japan has brought in a couple of brands (under Kose umbrella), including Softymo into Malaysia market. I haven't check it out myself yet, but I think you can find this cleaning oil in physical stores very soon. But I doubt whether they can price it as closely to drugstores in Japan..

⑥ Cezanne's Lasting Gloss Lip #101 (¥480 / approx. RM19)
Initially I wasn't going to purchase any lip product, but okay, I was persuaded to get this lip gloss as recommended by my friend, Tze Shane. She rarely (or never) recommend me any product before.. rather I who influenced her to purchase BBIA Last Lipstick (muahahaha).. So she said to me that she found a lipstick that is very wearable on daily basis... and this is the one.
Later then I know that this lipstick is rather popular among beauty bloggers! Cool, I shall try it myself and give you my verdict after this. ;)

⑦ Rohto's Lycee Eye Drops (Pink, For Tired Eyes) (¥370 / approx. RM15)
This product here is THE ONLY product which I've tried and used it before among the entire haul. Yeap, this is a repurchase after the one which I bought 2 years ago from Sasa during Hong Kong trip.
Generally, Rohto carries good quality eye drops. Particularly this Lycee Eye Drops tackle on tired eyes (show redness, blood vessels). It's hard to find this variation in Malaysia; hence, I might as well get two to stock up. BTW you can't keep eye drops for long once opened.
The following item is purchased from Daikoku drugstore (please forgive me if I spell it wrongly).
① Kobayashi's Eyebon Eye Wash Liquid (Blue - Normal) 500ml (¥645 / approx. RM26)
I have very sensitive eyes. I often experience dryness and discomfort after wearing contact lens for long hours. As recommended by the same beauty blogger mentioned earlier, she said this eye wash eased her condition. There are 7 variations under the product line. Blue is basic / normal. This eye wash combined cornea repair and eye-protective ingredients.
Let's see if it works. :)
Next off, check out what I've got from MUJI.
① MUJI's Jojoba Oil 100ml (¥1,590 / approx. RM65)
One of the highly raved MUJI beauty products. Despite we have MUJI stores in Malaysia, they don't carry Jojoba Oil. How I know? Because I have checked with the staffs and they told me the nearest country which carries this product is Singapore (T.T).I have read many positive reviews on Jojoba Oil, not just for cleansing usage. Well does it worth the price for a 100ml cleansing oil? There is only one way to find out. :)
② MUJI's Portable Eyelash Curler (¥390 / approx. RM16)
Quite an innovation! Many beauty bloggers have been talking about it across platforms. Particularly, they praised its portable design whereby it won't take up much space in your beauty pouch.
And its curve.. is said matching and catering for most Asian eyes. That's what I need!

Last but not least, how can we not talk about DAISO?
Despite we have DAISO stores in Malaysia, but they don't carry as much beauty stuffs as it is in Japan.

① DAISO's Puff Sponge Detergent 80ml (¥108 / approx. RM4)
Probably the cheapest makeup puff and sponge detergent you can find in the market!! And it's effective.
② DAISO's Miche Bloomin Eyelashes Extension (¥108 / approx. RM4)
And yes, probably the cheapest eyelashes extension you can get! What more it is recommended by many big names in the Youtube beauty industry. We are talking about PONY and SSINNIM (yassss!!).
Get pretty without breaking the bank... count me in! ;)
I have gotten 7 variations out of like 10+?
Here's how they look like.

That's all for now. The entire haul costs me RM240 in total. I think it's quite a value buy.
I know, it's quite a "conservative" haul, in the sense that, I made myself to choose 1 out of 2 from the same category. This is because I need to control my spending on beauty stuffs these days.. Especially after my Gmarket haul last month.. >.<
Stay tuned for more J-beauty product reviews after this and I will see you around!
