How super-value is "super value"?
As an individual whom has been living in Kota Kinabalu for the past 20+ years, you can surely notice the rising of local food price. Say if you want to find a proper meal at RM6 or under, it is RARE - don't even imagine a cafe could offer such price.
And SURPRISINGLY, there is one cafe / restaurant is having this "super value menu" on-going for the past few weeks. Let's check it out!
The cafe is located at 1st floor. Take the stairs beside Digi Store to get there.

From the outer look, you might second-guessing, "is this a pub?"
This question came to me too. Well this cafe do serves liquor and alcohol, but they also offer sit-down meals at the same operating hours.
The interior is nicely decorated with vintage touch.
There are two dining sections:
- One shoplot on the left (with cashier) with less tables;
- One shoplot on the right with more tables and larger dining area.
Without further ado, let's see what's on their menu (I'm starving)!
WOW, everything is RM6 and under! Am I seeing this right??

Dong Quai Salted Chicken (当归盐焗鸡) - RM6 nett
Smoked Duck Hamchoi Noodle (咸菜鸭肉面) - RM6 nett
Plum Sauce Braised Duck (酸梅卤肥鸭) - RM6 nett
Original Ngiu Chap (原味牛什) - RM5 nett
Dry Squid Chicken Feet (吊片焖鸡脚) - RM5 nett
I'm shook because not many customers at this hour (we were there around 10:30AM), despite the cafe already opened at 9AM (I think they recently changed their business hour, that's why).
Probably another reason would be its location - the cafe is located at first floor, unlike most dining restaurants which open at ground floor.
The food presentation is appealing and appetizing. Among all the dishes being served today, I enjoyed the Lam Looi Chicken Chop Kuey Teow the most! 😋 The Plum Sauced Braised Duck comes second.
Overall, I really enjoyed the dining experience here at High Street Cafe. Dish wise, they are homely food - nothing very exciting, but I must say, value for money. You will walk out with tummy filled and not hurting your wallet. I mean, where can you get Yellow-wine Chicken served with rice at RM5??
*Limited time offer.

P/S: Because I had such a good dining experience that day, I went to the cafe on the next day (immediately) with my family. It was a Sunday (18/08/2019) about 1:30PM and there were so many customers! To my disappointment, not only the food presentation wasn't like what we had the day earlier, our rice wasn't fully cooked (urgh). We politely gave our feedback to the serving staff as well as the chef in-charge. Nonetheless, there wasn't any explanation given after that. Oh why oh why. Quite disappointment.
