Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog!
Tonight we are going to flash back to June earlier this year,
to a relaxing dinner night-out at Coco-Joe's,
located in Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort and Spa.
Are you excited? :9
Are you hungry???
Do scroll down and find out more about this dinner experience, looking at this magical sunset!
If you are a tourist, never been to Kota Kinabalu,
don't worry, just tell the taxi you wanna go to Tanjung Aru Beach Hotel.
Coco-Joe's is one of the resort's in-house restaurants.
If you wanna drive there or grab car / uber there,
here's the location (just in case you needed):
- Address : 20, Jalan Aru, Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, 88995, 88100 Kota Kinabalu.
- Resort's Official Website : http://www.shangri-la.com/kotakinabalu/tanjungaruresort/dining/restaurants/coco-joe-bar-grill/
- Resort's Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/ShangrilaTAH/
- Restaurant's Contact : 088-327888
- Restaurant's Operating Hours : 12PM - 11PM (Sun to Sat)
Before I talk about food,
allow me to show you some wonderful sunset photos taken in the resort.
It's timeless.
Did you know that,
sunset in Kota Kinabalu is rated as one of the best ones in Malaysia!!!
Particularly to catch the sunset,
I recommend to be ready at the spot latest by 5.30PM.
By the time of 6PM, the sun will be completely set (most of the days in the year).
Well of course, best if you could Google the sunset time ahead to avoid disappointment.
Anyway, the night view in the resort is equally gorgeous.
Oh yeap, giant pizza, right.
Do you know why giant pizza is such a "thing" here?
..because it is the FIRST GIANT PIZZA ever being introduced in KK city!
Everyone here pretty sure wanna come and check it out once, right? :9
The price is RM158, good for 6-8 persons to share.
It comes with bottom-less Ice Tea.
Customers are required to call in for reservations at least 1 day in advance,
for the restaurant to prepare ingredients.
How big is the giant pizza?
I think they did mentioned it somewhere, but couldn't trace back... (loss memory)
Well you can roughly get the idea how big it is
by looking at tit's proportion to the culinary laying beside it...(below)
That's no doubt humongous!!
The giant pizza comes in 4 flavors. That's by default.
- Plain cheese
- Chicken
- Seafood
- Vegetarian
Each flavor dominates 1/4 size of the pizza.
My advice to "conquer" this giant pizza is to start with the simple to the sophisticated ones.
Plain cheese > Vegetarian > Chicken > Seafood
No right or wrong here.
It's just that if you do it backwards, you will find the plain cheese too bleak in taste.
As adventurous and crazy as you seem it is,
yes, we are planning to finish this 8-pax giant pizza by sharing among 5 only! XD
You think this is a joke, right?
Well, the truth is we did finished the whole pizza, but not within one night / one meal. :p
One reason is because they served us 2 baskets of potato wedges earlier,
as a token of apology for late serving.
(we waited for almost an hour for the pizza to served despite made a booking ahead)
The staff kindly allowed us for take-away.
p/s: we didn't finish half of it by the end of the night... good try...
Strictly speaking, the pizza tasted so-so.
It is more of the "wow" effect when it was presented to us.
The seafood and chicken flavors tasted similar, only the earlier one has a bit of spicy kick.
The vegetarian and plain cheese were okay, but not really like mind-blowing.
Does it worth the price?
Paying for the environment per say, I would say that's quite fair.
Food alone, over-rated.
Sitting on the couch beside the sea,
listening to the sound of sea waves clapping on the beach,
alongside with relaxing jazz music,
be with family,
eating dinner together...
Overall it was still a pleasant dining experience here.
One day I would love to come back here for a drink, strolling down the beach..
