Terengganu Relaxing East Coast 5D4N Getaway
May 27, 2018 (Sunday)
And the road trip continues...
Tasik Kenyir
It takes another 2 hours 30 minutes to reach Tasik Kenyir, the largest artificial lake in Malaysia. It is located in Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu, Malaysia. It was a creation resulting by the damming of the Kenyir River. The lake is 260 km² and provides water to the Sultan Mahmud Power Station.
It is a peaceful out-of-town recreation center. The water is still and clear.
... In spite there are some building works over here, but we spot no people at all.
After we called the Kenyir Eco Resort's reception upon our arrival, a motor boat (or they like to call it "water taxi") came to pick us up at the harbour.
Kenyir Eco Resort
In about 5~10 minutes boat ride, we reached our stay for tonight - Kenyir Eco Resort! Surprisingly, we are the only group of visitors staying in this lake tonight! (can you believe that!!!)
The name can be misleading as it claims to be a "resort", but not that kind you're thinking (heh). Its iconic pink building is really striking, and we just have to take a picture for that reason (IKR).
We booked a Deluxe Quadruple Room with one (1) queen bed and two (2) single beds. It costs RM308 for one (1) night. Here is how it looks like inside the room.
Notice there is a ladder to connect to the upper room (more like a deck to me) where there are 2 single mattress. Also there is an air-conditioner inside the room.
There is a bathroom attached, however you have to use the public toilet located outside the room. Quite inconvenient for most people. Anyways.
Technically, there isn't much activities available here as compared to few years ago, where they used to have fishing, jungle trekking, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, rapids shooting, exploring waterfalls and caves.
The only water activity available now is boat riding. The host charged us RM100 per ride for about an hour.
The lake is so big so there are many islands within it. They used to have themed parks associated with different islands. For instance, bird park, butterfly park, orchid park and etc. Due to less tourists and lack of management, they slowly died off. (I thought themed parks are great ideas for tourism.. what a shame.. hopefully they can revive again one day)
It is truly amazing to witness nature's great harmony! What a peaceful island... just a bit too quiet.
The lake is located quite remote from the city. As for our dinner, the host happily offered to help us take away food from the nearest town. We had Thai food for dinner. Nothing too special about it.
As for the night entertainment, we had karaoke session (which is the only thing we could do in this remote island hahaha) in the resort until 10PM.

Hop onto my boat! ... I'm just joking :p |

What a surprise to spot a rumah nelayan (fisherman's house) in the middle of the lake! (below)
