Hello there! Welcome to another food diary as we explore Hungarian cuisine tonight! :)
To be completely honest with you, I had no idea what to expect. :s
It's a special night, and our family we decided to eat out at this Hungarian restaurant downtown.
- Address: 35, Jalan Haji Saman, Pusat Bandar Kota Kinabalu, 88000 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

- Operating Hours : 10AM - 10:30PM
We are experiencing much rain this week. And I supposed that's the reason why there wasn't much customers. The staff offered to keep our umbrellas as we settled down at a table right next to the counter. Really warm and thoughtful gesture.
The menu are as below. Minimalistic and straight-forward.
I was having hard time to decide on what to eat. Well, I would very much rather they could provide photos to relate to the dishes. Anyways. Just go with your guts!
Since it's rainy day, I am going with a cup of Hot Chili Vanilla Chocolate.
The chocolate flavour is rich. Can't really taste much of the chili powder actually. Hmm. Something new.
Mains are served.
Well, first we have Chili Chocolate Braised Beef (Spicy Red Wine Braised Beef with Dark Chocolate, French Fries).
We were wrong when we thought of getting more spiciness than chocolate. It was the other way round. Couldn't say the two distinct flavours went along well, but it would be appropriate to say they contrast each other. As for this particular dish, one thing for sure, they are very generous in their beef portion.
Coming up next is Moroccan Inspired Lamb Stew served with cous cous (A Fragrant Stew of Lamb, Cooked with Sweet Potatoes, Apricots & Spices, Cous Cous).
My dad was curious about "couscous". All I know is that it can be a substitute for rice (carbohydrate), but I didn't know exactly what it is. So I googled it (you've got it!).
Voila! Here you go.
I must say, the lamb stew was cooked deliciously. The sauce went along well with the bread and couscous. Everything was good. Spicy? No, although the colour looks like curry.
Overall, I thought it was a decent cozy place to dine in, hang out with friends and family. Price range wise, I would say slightly above average (compared with local foods). There are something else which I would like to try from the menu. Might revisit here soon (hopefully!)
Till the next time. Bye! ;)

"Couscous is a Maghrebi dish of small (about 3mm diameter) steamed balls of crushed durum wheat semolina, usually served with a stew spooned on top."
