Penang 6D5N Year-End Trip 槟城年尾之旅
December 22, 2016 (Thursday)
Good morning, Penang! And we are up for another food-venture today! Who like durian ice-cream? :9
Kek Seng Cafe 格成茶室
- Address : 382 & 384, Jalan Penang, 10000 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia
- Phone : +60 16-412 1300
- Operating Hours : 9AM–5PM
We parked our car at a private car park nearby and walked over to Kek Seng Cafe. The main reason we are here is for its home-made durian ice-cream which also served with ice-kacang. By first look, the cafe is a bit old and nostalgic which the fact that this cafe was established since 1906.
Since many people recommended this place online, we better check out their durian ice-kacang, shouldn't miss it, of course.
- Durian ice-kacang - RM5.20
We ordered a bowl of ice-kacang with durian ice-cream topped (above). It was a colourful combination of jelly, sweet corns, red beans and shaved-ice dressed with syrup and coconut milk. We thought it was a nice treat for hot days. The durian ice-cream was spot-on. Strong flavour and creamy.
If you don't fancy durian, not to worry, you can always go for their original ice-kacang, which is RM4.80 per bowl now.
You can find food stalls selling chicken rice, kuey teow soup, penang laksa and etc.

You do know Chinese are "rice maniac"? HAHAHA yea right. We ordered chicken rice, but I thought it was so-so.
My sisters, apparently like spicy food nowadays, ordered penang laksa. I thought I had enough of laksa for these days, so didn't taste this one. They said it was okay.
I ordered kuey teow soup instead, thinking of having something mild. Surprisingly, I enjoyed how it's savory taste despite how it's look, and I finished it all within minutes.
- Kuey teow soup (medium) - RM4.50 **recommend**
To note: Glass museum is just right the corner. We didn't manage to visit it due to time constrain, but I thought should point it out to you, if you're interested.
---stay tuned---
